2019 Annual Meeting:
A Tremendous Success!

PAISBOA's 2019 Annual Meeting, held Wednesday, May 8, was the highlight of the 2018-2019 season! Over 150 members and vendors spent the morning with us, and enjoyed our program featuring a tremendous Vendor Showcase, scintillating Roundtable Discussions, and our celebration of the legacy of John Batley.

Following the annual business meeting and networking breakfast, attendees had the chance to visit with over 40 vendors at the Vendor Showcase. Our members spent the better part of an hour renewing old relationships, and building new ones with our sponsors and PAISBOA Preferred Vendors.

Prior to the awards presentation, participants had their choice of nine different Roundtables, where they joined our member and sponsor facilitators in conversations about best practices in the Business Office, Master Planning, Current Legal Issues, the Cooperative Retirement Plan, Tips on a Healthier You, and more! With three rounds of discussions, there was something for everyone.  Thank you to all of the Roundtable Facilitators for their willingness to share their expert advice.

The highlight of the morning was the presentation of the John Batley Award, presented for 2019 to Martha Scache of Abington Friends School. Martha was honored for her many years of service to PAISBOA and the PAISBOA Health Benefit Trust, where she currently serves as Chair. Following her acceptance, Martha was joined by six former Batley winners in attendance: Frank AloiseJoe Van BernumEmily MillerHal DavidowGail Crane, and Michael Noonan.

We also honored three long-time key volunteers for PAISBOA and the PAISBOA Services Corporation at last week’s Annual Meeting. Michael Noonan will be leaving the PAISBOA Board after 41 years of exemplary service at Friends Select School. One of the Founding Fathers of PAISBOA and recipient of the John Batley Award, Mike was the quintessential secretary of the board and his minutes have provided the definitive history of PAISBOA.

Joe Van Bernum will be stepping down as President of the PAISBOA Services Corporation when he retires from Overbrook School for the Blind in June after serving on the PAISBOA Board of Directors and the Purchasing Consortium Steering Committee. Another recipient of the John Batley Award, we acknowledge Joe for his dedicated service to his school and to PAISBOA! We also recognized David Gold, who is stepping down from the leadership of the PAISBOA Services Corporation and the Survey Gurus group after many years of distinguished service on the PAISBOA Board.
