Return to Campus:
Legal Considerations
Webinar on June 2

Tuesday, June 2
1:00 pm

PAISBOA and Susan Guerette of Fisher Phillips will host Return to Campus: Legal Considerations
on Tuesday, June 2 at 1:00 pm. Many schools are focused on returning to campus and what it might look like, but also want to minimize any liability that may go along with that return. In this webinar we will discuss:

  • What steps should schools be thinking about to reduce liability as students and employees return to campus?
  • How do schools work with vulnerable employees, but also maintain the staffing they need to ensure proper supervision of students and maintain physical operations?
  • How should schools address student and parent concerns while both limiting liability and maintaining enrollment?

Please join us for an engaging conversation.

Planning for Reopening Your School

Wednesday, June 3
10:00 am

PAISBOA, ADVIS, and PAIS will host the second of two webinars regarding Planning for Reopening Your School. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 10:00 am and is geared towards larger schools.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made planning for the year ahead a logistical mind bender for independent schools. The scope has felt too wide-ranging, the obstacles too high to scale. However, like it or not, amidst a landscape that seems to change daily, it’s time to look ahead to longer-term planning. Parents and other community members are now looking for more insight into how the school might respond to the challenges at hand. And teachers will need more comprehensive guidance and support.
SAIS President Debra Wilson will lead a discussion with Heads of School and CFOs to help with planning for various reopening scenarios. The session is not meant to offer a prescriptive plan for school reopening but rather a jumping off point as schools begin to work through the many factors to consider as you develop your plans to return to campus.

A session for smaller schools was held on May 28, with one for larger schools on Wednesday, June 3. For more information, CLICK HERE.

Planning Classroom Space When School Reopens

Friday, June 5
11:00 am

When our school buildings re-open for educational purposes, it is likely that we will need to maintain some level of physical distance from one another as we provide for the health and well-being of our students and faculty.  How will you plan for the utilization and scheduling of your indoor spaces in order to meet public health guidelines?

On Friday morning, June 5, at 11:00 am, PAISBOA will present Planning Classroom Space When School Reopens, a unique opportunity for those involved in campus space planning. Ari Rosner, a junior at Cal Tech and a Georgetown Day School alumnus, has developed, along with his mother, Rahel Rosner, Chief Strategist at The St. Paul’s School, a unique, interactive model that will help you plan for the use of any space on your campus.

Ari, a mechanical engineering major currently engaged in distance learning from his home in Maryland, saw the challenges his mother faced as she projected classroom needs for the fall on her large campus. Like many of our schools, this involved a range of student ages, many different academic and co-curricular disciplines, and other logistical issues. He designed the model that he and Rahel will present at our program, and he has generously agreed to share it with all PAISBOA member schools.

Please join us for an important and insightful program.
