#Grateful

November 20, 2020

Nothing about this year has been easy, so why should we think the holiday season should be any different? As we prepare for a Thanksgiving that will be remarkably different from past years, I couldn’t help but think of my Dad. My Dad was always a very practical guy, who worked hard, approached life from a glass half-full perspective, and who never took anything for granted. He told me on more than one occasion that I could have it all, just not at the same time, and to count my blessings.

When I saw this quote, I immediately thought of him: “This is not the year to get everything you want. This is the year to appreciate everything you have.” So Dad, here goes…

I am grateful for my family -- for their unconditional love and unwavering support of me, and that this holiday season finds us all healthy and safe.

I am grateful for my work with PAISBOA — for my colleagues, the leadership, the membership, the vendor partners, and our corporate partners — who support PAISBOA’s mission: to stimulate and sustain a passion for providing services and opportunities to empower Business Officers to excel.

I am grateful for the privilege of serving an organization that has a clear purpose — to save business officers time and money -- and solid core values: integrity, transparency, and loyalty -- that resonate with so many and serve as a north star for all our decisions.

I am grateful for the time we spend together learning, sharing, and problem-solving, and for all the positive energy that is focused on excellence and service to our members and their school/university communities.

I am grateful for the opportunity to learn something new every day in the service of members who subscribe to the mantra of “All for one and one for all.”

I hope all of you have a well-deserved break next week, and that your holiday celebrations make you appreciative of all that you have. There is hope for an end to COVID with promising results of the vaccine, and we will get through this if we stick together, take care of each other, and continue to network on our zoom calls, webinars, e-list posts, and other programs.  We’ve got this!

On behalf of Ron, Rachel, Sara, Guy, Joan, and Andrea, we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
