The Shipley Upper School seeks an experienced high school Spanish Teacher. The candidate will have experience teaching Spanish as a second language and a clear educational philosophy consistent with the mission of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • The teacher reports to his or her Division Head and PK-12 Modern Language Chair
  • Works closely with the US Modern Language department and the PK-12 Modern Language Chair
  • Creates a supportive atmosphere and rigorous academic program in which all students will thrive
  • Advises students and attends faculty meetings
  • Provides positive and frequent communication with faculty, administration and families

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Spanish at the high school level
  • Degree in language preferred
  • Fluency in English is requisite
  • Should possess a creative, energetic, and positive approach to teaching and learning
  • Must have knowledge of ACTFL Standards and the most current practices in the teaching of modern language
  • Fluency in other languages, particularly French is a plus
